Dear Colleague:

Thank you for indicating your interest in submitting a manuscript to the Canadian Journal of Microbiology describing your research related to Polar or Alpine Microbiology. We have arranged for publication of a special issue of Can. J. Microbiol. dedicated to original research papers arising from this conference, tentatively scheduled for publication in January or February 2009 (print version) and earlier on-line. http://pubs.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/rp-ps/journalDetail.jsp?lang=eng&jcode=cjm

All submitted manuscripts will be subjected to normal peer review and revision prior to being considered for publication. Submitted manuscripts must conform to Can. J. Microbiol. format, as indicated in the Instructions to Authors: http://pubs.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/eng/journals/forauthors_cjm.html

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the NRC Press OSPRey (On-line Submission and Peer Review) website: https://osprey.pubs.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/publisher/access.view?journalCode=CJM

When submitting your manuscript, please indicate in the covering letter and on the electronic submission page that you wish the paper to be considered for the Polar and Alpine Microbiology special issue.

The timelines for submission and review are given below. Because of the need to process papers in a timely fashion, the deadlines below are inflexible.

July 31, 2008 Deadline for submission of manuscripts through OSPRey website.
August 1 - September 30, 2008 Peer review and collation of reviewers' comments.
October 1, 2008 Notification of decision and requests for revision, if applicable.
November 1, 2008 Deadline for receipt of revised manuscripts.
January 2009 On-line publication of accepted manuscripts
January or February 2009 Print publication of accepted manuscripts.
